Explanation of Zen Experience

Entokuin ZEN experience is no reservation needed and admission fee only.

There is a saying in Zen Buddhism, Just as you clean your house every day, you need to keep your mind clean.
There are many ways to practice in order to keep the mind undisturbed by suffering. I hope that through this experience, you will feel the importance of calming your mind.

“Gotaitouchi”

 -Time required: 10 minutes

This is the politest way of praying.
After praying, please take a certificate home with you as a sign of your connection with the Buddha.

“Shakyo” and “Shabutsu”

Copying of a sutra, make a wish.(5 minutes) Please write carefully, with the feeling of worshipping the Buddha three times for each character.

The image of Buddha contains many characteristics that can help people. While tracing with a pen, pray for daily peace and blessings.

“Karesansui” experience

Zen traditional dry landscape garden making experience. (10 minutes) “Karesansui” gardens are traditional Zen Buddhism gardens.
In this experience, you will draw a line on the white sand with a tool. Drawing lines on the white sand is a spiritual practice and is also applied to psychotherapy.
Create your own garden while looking into your own mind.

“Nadebotoke” -- Touching the Buddha

This is a way of worshipping the Buddha by touching him and receiving his power.
The "Three-faced Daikokuten" is a rare Buddhist image that combines "Daikokuten," "Bishamonten," and "Benzaiten" into one. It is said that once you worship him, you will receive the blessings of the three Buddhas.
